While searching for educational uses of MS EXCEL, I came across many interesting articles and papers.
Here's a sneak peek of what the most interesting ones talk about.
Abbasi and Iqbal did some research on the proportion of mathematics educators at post/under graduate level in Pakistan, who make the mathematics courses more livelier for their students.

Another one is a presentation by Prof. H Y Far on the uses of MS EXCEL in numerical calculus. This paper focuses more closely on topics similar to ones which I would like to pursue in my class.

Lastly
Dogan Ibrahim presented a paper on the requirements of engineering and science teaching and how EXCEL can be used in teaching of science subjects.

Hi Atif! Surfing the PGCTHE blogs and checking out what I can learn from them. I've been part of the PGCTHE background team.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently doing my Master's at Open University of Malaysia. We recently had a discussion about how might choosing constructivism as the learning theory base affects the instructional design. One of our "stimulus articles" was "Constructivism in Science and Mathematics Education Constructivism in Science and Mathematics Education. Also one interesting is Glasersfeld's Learning as a Constructive Activity. Maybe these benefit you too!
By the way, can you summarize what you believe were the key findings in these articles that you shared (by the way, I'm not a mathematician so in layman's terms, please! :))? Do you think they can straight benefit you in your work? Have you tried out something from them? Just wondering and gathering experiences. :)
I have added a summary of one of the articles, on the blog. Please have a look.
DeleteHi Atif, It's great that you have found some interesting articles that are relevant to your project with MS Excel but like Marko I would also like to know how they would benefit you or if you have actually followed any of the ideas that you have found through?

DeleteA brief summary of the article I found most interesting has been entered on the moodle. Kindly have a look there.
